BSPTI in Brief

After two unsuccessful attempts between 1997 and 2001 to establish a professional society of training institutes and centres in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Bahrain Society of Owners of Private Training Institutes was able on October 23rd 2004 ,to establish a bright history of training institutes through the initiative and advocacy of the professor Isa Jassim Sayar for private training institutes and centres, where they met at the Bahrain Society for Training and Human Resources Development in the presence of twelve institutes and training providers.
The attendees agreed to establish an entity that includes the membership of private training institutes and centres that aims to support and protect the interests of the institutes and make them an authentic partner in the development of the training sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. And after continuous meetings, the institutes agreed to elect a founding committee headed by Mr. Isa Jassim Sayar and the membership of Hassan Alqadi, Najah Sangoor, Ahmed Hubail, Nargis Traif, Dr. Abdulla Alkoohaji, Najeeb Ebrahim Alsayed, Farha Mohammed and Mohammed Almodaweb.
The awareness of the private training institutes of the importance of creating an entity that protects their interests, places a great responsibility on the founding committee where its members have worked tirelessly for this association to see the light of day, and write a birth certificate. The Constituent Committee held 17 meetings between December 7, 2004 and August 2005, which ended with the preparation of the draft Article of Association in preparation for the General Assembly meeting and the founding of the Assembly.
The founding committee invited the institutes to the founding meeting in December 2004 at the headquarters of the “Al-Aorobah Club” attended by thirty-two institutes and training centres where they discussed and approved the draft Article of Association and signed the founding statement after which the application for the establishment was submitted to the Ministry of Social Affairs at that time on December 28, 2005.
The efforts of the founding members culminated in the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No. (18) Of 2005 on April 18, 2005, which declares the official status of the BSPTI, as the aforementioned resolution was published in the Official Gazette on June 8, 2005.
The BSPTI declaration was the light that came from the end of the tunnel to provide a glimmer of hope to private institutes and training centres in order to take its natural position under the sunlight.
The Founding Committee of the BSPTI worked in full swing to prepare for the its Founding General Assembly, where the General Assembly was invited on September 5, 2005, and 14 candidates were nominated for the Board of Directors in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Social Affairs at the time.
The General Assembly was held in an atmosphere of transparency and fair competitiveness, where the membership of the Board of Directors was won by: Isa Jassim Sayar, Hassan Mansour Al-Qadi, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, Nargis Tarif, Najib Ibrahim Al Sayed, Saeed Taqi, Makki Abbas, Ahmed Habeel and Dr. Abdullah Al-Koheji, who later resigned and was replaced for the complementary members of the Board of Directors by Dr. Mubarak Bahr.
The Board of Directors devoted meetings during the first year of 2006 to building the society from within and forming internal committees and trying to find a permanent headquarters for the BSPTI. With the beginning of 2007 the Board of Directors decided to organize a scientific activity that is distinctively reflecting the role of the actual society in the partnership gathered in accordance with the vision of the BSPTI. Its mission has resulted in the society’s decision to hold the first scientific meeting “The Role of Training in Achieving Sustainable Development” as a reflection of the BSPTI’s objectives.
And the journey of thousands of miles started with a step.
